the eleventh hour

and as that hour
boots laced
came and stormed
humanity spoke its same old song

"we search and look but do not see
we know what we want so to each his own mind.
just let us be."

but closer this hour did march
ignored it was
the cries above
telling all to one song march

mercy the few said
these people are too far off

but like chicken little love did plead
and to no avail
the 12th hour came
self
lost
nothing indeed

Author's note: a poem about the end of the world. The eleventh hour is a scientific term. It refers to the last moment before change is possible. In case you are wondering they all pretty much say that's where earth is unless we change the way we live on planet earth as we know it.
